Job description

Build relationships, grow a book, and earn a path to partnership — without ever cold calling.

Our client is a boutique, specialty independent agency built deliberately around relationships and client care rather than chasing volume. The owner left a large captive carrier to build something more selective — a practice that takes care of the right clients well, focused on personal lines (homeowners with multiple cars, families with young drivers, umbrella needs) and small commercial (real estate investors, property owners, select contractors).

This role exists to grow the agency. The owner can't get the practice where it needs to be alone, and is looking to bring on a producer who can convert warm inbound leads, develop their own network, and own client relationships for the long term. Insurance can be taught — what can't be taught is the ability to have a real conversation, ask for the business, and handle a "no" without taking it personally.

What makes this role unique?

  • Warm leads, not a cold-call grind. The agency's marketing engine (Meta and Google ads) drives inbound opportunities — you should expect roughly 6–10 warm leads a day. You will never be handed a list and told to dial strangers. The owner won't ask you to do anything he isn't willing to do himself, and cold calling isn't it.

  • A genuine path to partnership. The owner doesn't intend to run the business forever and is explicit about wanting someone with the entrepreneurial drive to eventually invest in or take over the practice. This is succession, not a buzzword.

  • Real support to succeed. Full licensing guidance and reimbursement if needed (study materials and test costs reimbursed at day 90), hands-on training, modern systems, and an owner who manages by trust, not by looking over your shoulder.

What you will do

  • While getting licensed and ramping: support the practice with service work — remarketing renewals flagged for significant rate increases, friendly payment-reminder calls, and check-in calls on recent claims.

  • Once licensed: own prospecting and production. Convert the warm inbound leads the agency generates, and build your own pipeline by meeting loan officers, joining or starting local networking groups, and educating your network on social (working with the agency's marketing team — never spamming).

  • Own client relationships across personal and small commercial lines, with a focus on long-term care and retention, not one-off transactions.

  • Grow and retain a book of business that generates renewals — writing quality business that stays on the books.

  • Use the agency's systems day to day: the AMS (Momentum) for policies, the CRM (Agency Zoom) to automate follow-up and stay in front of prospects, and VoIP phones. Training on these systems is provided by a dedicated specialist.

The ideal candidate

  • Insurance experience is not required — and is sometimes a negative. The owner has found candidates from B2B sales, mortgage, or real estate often thrive here because they're already comfortable talking to people, negotiating, asking for business, and handling rejection. Experienced insurance professionals are welcome too, where there's a genuine fit.

  • Relationship-oriented and non-transactional — you build trust and play the long game rather than chasing the biggest deal.

  • Self-directed and accountable — you work independently after a structured onboarding and don't need a micromanager (the owner isn't one).

  • Resilient and emotionally steady — you stay positive and keep moving through the inevitable rejections of a sales career.

  • A strong conversational presence — personable, approachable, able to read the room, and willing to initiate conversations and outreach.

  • Committed to a producer career — willing to get licensed, motivated to drive a book of business, and inspired by the earning potential.
