Job description
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Planner / Wealth Manager to join a highly relationship-driven independent wealth management firm serving a concentrated base of high-trust client relationships. With approximately $600M in assets under management across roughly 125 clients, the firm delivers sophisticated planning and highly personalized advice in an environment built on depth, consistency, and long-term relationships.
This role is designed for a planner who wants more than maintenance work or incremental responsibility. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building relationships, delivering comprehensive planning, and contributing directly to the future growth of the business. While clients will transition over time, this individual is also expected to help expand the firm through business development efforts, community involvement, referral relationships, and personal initiative.
The Senior Financial Planner / Wealth Manager will work closely with clients to develop and present comprehensive financial plans, manage ongoing relationships, and support complex planning conversations. Depending on the client engagement, the role may function as either a lead advisor or a collaborative second chair.
The firm offers a clear and measurable path for long-term growth, with advancement tied to demonstrated client leadership, business development success, and increasing ownership of relationships. Compensation evolves alongside the practice being built, creating substantial long-term opportunity for the right individual.
What makes this role unique?
This opportunity combines sophisticated financial planning with genuine entrepreneurial upside inside an established and highly respected firm.
Unlike many advisory roles that focus primarily on servicing inherited relationships, this position is intentionally designed for someone who wants to help build the future of the practice. The firm already has a strong operational foundation, deep client trust, and a stable client base, but it is looking for someone who brings energy, ideas, and initiative to growth and relationship development.
The client-to-advisor ratio is exceptionally low, allowing for deeper planning work, stronger personal relationships, and more meaningful long-term impact. Conversations often extend beyond investments into family dynamics, business planning, legacy considerations, and life decisions that require thoughtful guidance and trust.
The culture is collaborative, detail-oriented, and highly intentional. Team members are given the opportunity to earn increasing responsibility over time, and prior advisors have built long-term careers by gradually expanding their role, client relationships, and ownership within the business.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced planner who wants both the stability of an established firm and the upside of building something meaningful over the long term.
What you will do
Build and maintain trusted relationships with high-net-worth clients and multi-generational families
Develop, present, and implement comprehensive financial plans tailored to each client’s goals and circumstances
Serve as both lead advisor and collaborative second chair depending on the complexity and structure of client engagements
Guide clients through financial planning discussions involving investments, retirement, tax planning, estate considerations, risk management, and long-term wealth strategies
Help transition and deepen existing client relationships over time
Contribute actively to the firm’s growth through networking, referral development, community involvement, and business development initiatives
Collaborate with internal team members to deliver a high-quality and highly personalized client experience
Maintain accurate planning documentation, follow-through, and communication throughout the client relationship
Identify opportunities to improve client experience, planning processes, and relationship development strategies
Take increasing ownership of client relationships and business outcomes as the role evolves
The ideal candidate
Has significant experience in financial planning, wealth management, or advisory services within an RIA or similar environment
Demonstrates strong technical planning knowledge alongside excellent relationship management skills
Enjoys developing long-term client relationships built on trust, communication, and thoughtful advice
Is motivated by both delivering exceptional planning and contributing to business growth
Brings initiative, entrepreneurial energy, and a willingness to help expand the firm’s presence and client base
Communicates confidently and professionally in complex client conversations
Thrives in a collaborative, high-accountability environment with high standards and attention to detail
Values sophisticated, relationship-driven planning over transactional advisory work
Is comfortable balancing client service responsibilities with business development expectations
CFP® designation or similar advanced planning credentials are strongly preferred
Wants a long-term opportunity with a clear path toward expanded responsibility, revenue participation, and practice ownership growth
